Founder's Brief
A passionate, self-made entrepreneur, Ms. Veronica Nyakianda Gakio exemplifies service excellence, business sustainability, and business collaboration. As the founder, CEO and driving force behind Ankole Luxury, she designs and manufactures bespoke, handmade jewelry and accessories using repurposed horn, brass, and semi-precious stones.
Each Ankole piece has been handcrafted by a dedicated team of highly experienced local artisans. But that’s not all. At Ankole Luxury, they extend their vision beyond jewellery. Through their collaboration with women from rural communities, they bring you meticulously handcrafted crochet bags. These bags are crafted with care and expertise, reflecting the rich heritage of the women who weave their stories into each stitch. Ms. Gakio’s global business acumen stems from previous leadership roles in Dubai, UAE, and Kenya she’s held. Beyond business, she is a disability advocate, actively supporting programs at Andy Speaks 4SNP and DTSK (Differently Talented Society of Kenya). These organizations provide psychosocial support to parents of children on the autism spectrum, allowing individuals with special needs to reclaim their potential with dignity and unwavering love.
Her educational journey includes a diploma in Human Resource Management from Zabeel University in Dubai. Furthermore, she pursues ongoing learning through platforms such as the Academy For Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), Shetrades – ITC, DHL, GIZ E-Commerce, SINAPIS Road To Growth, WomenWork – The Digital Future Program, and British Creative DNA program all which have helped her network with other women entrepreneurs. She is also a board member of AWEP Kenyan chapter, a business support organization for Women SME’s.
